Something to Watch For

Awards

What is fun about that for me personally is that this will define the next few films I am going to see; however, the really fun thing to watch is that after tomorrow morning people will stop mentioning the Golden Globes.

Sorry to all the winners of the Globes, but the Academy Awards are bigger, and unless you're in TV no one gives a damn if you won a Globe once the little bald guys come into the picture.

I'd say it's sad but who am I kidding? I love the Oscars.

I'm predicting Slumdog Millionaire, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Milk, Frost/Nixon, and The Dark Knight for Best Picture. I think that the possible dark horses for the fifth spot include The Reader, Gran Torino, and maybe, just maybe, WALL-E.

My predictions of what has the biggest chance:
1 Benjamin Button
2 Slumdog Millionaire
3 Doubt
4 Frost/Nixon
5 Milk
6 Dark Knight
7 Gran Torino
8 Revolutionary Road

I think Slumdog is definitely in there though.

I'd really like to some nominations from left field, that hasn't seem to have happened in ages.

Dang! There are now 3 best pictures I need to see! However, once I see all the best pictures I've seen all the best directors so that does eliminate some viewing...

I. AM. IN. SHOCK.

I know the Academy has an independent streak, but some of the snubs are just incredible.
